"The Real Housewives of Orange County"

Well it's a lovely day despite the cold and clouds because Annie is starting to rejoice again. She read Gloria's God Letter for today and she loved it. Then she sent off email birthday card to her brother, today is Danny's birthday. Her happiness has returned. She had great swim yesterday, and even more fun whooping it up with Kathleen, Jill, and Samantha in pool and ladies locker room yesterday.

Samantha is head lifeguard at Fort Lowell Pool and Jill is her supervisor. Kathleen is fellow swimmer like Annie. Samantha got new puppy last week and named her Calamity, after "Calamity Jane" which is Annie's favorite movie and she found out yesterday is Sam's favorite movie too. Jill had her camera at pool and was taking photos, they are preparing the Summer Catalogue for Parks and Recs Summer Aquatics Program.

They like a few pics on cover and a few pics inside. Jill took a lot of pics of Kathleen swimming, Kathleen is a great swimmer, and a few of Annie standing in the water kibitzing with Sam. And when they all trooped into ladies locker room together, pool had closed, the instant Annie took off her suit and standing naked under shower with Kathleen, she called out to Jill, "OK we are ready to be photographed for cover of parks and rec aquatics summer program." Jill came in with her camera, saw the two naked girls and ran away. And Annie and Kathleen spent the rest of their shower and getting dressed making jokes about it.

"The aquatics catalogue would sell out in one day" Kathleen observed, "and don't forget the aquatics calendar, they can use our naked pics on that."

It amused Annie so much because she is so buxom now, plus such a fattie wattie. There is no reason for her to be such a fattie wattie, she eats so light. But part of the ascendancy phenomenon is either people don't gain weight no matter how much they eat, or they put on weight around their solar plexus no matter how lightly they eat. Kathleen is a tall slim stringbean, but Annie is right, a pic of her naked on the Tucson parks and recs summer aquatics schedule, in all her naked glory would cause a stir.

I don't think Annie has stopped laughing since then.

Then last night she watched a bunch of episodes of "Real Housewives of Orange County," which she got immediately addicted to. Partly because she had no idea what she was watching. She couldn't figure out who these women were. They reminded her of the girls in the top sororities in Jamaica High School when she was in the crowd which went on the AYH bicycle trips. In the middle they switched to a preview episode of "Real Housewives of New York City" and Annie found that one dismal. It was the same theme, the very very wealthy women of New York City, but it just didn't look to Annie like they were having any fun at all.

Whereas these wealthy women in Orange County in Southern California seemed to be having a ball. They loved being rich and enjoyed every bit of it. It was all about being rich. But they were all very nice women, and in their own way, down to earth. Annie got fond of all of them. And they had their ups and downs too. Their sons are now 18 and 21 and some of them are having problems. And marriages have problems too. Her heart went out to the moms and sons during time of big problems. But there was something so lighthearted about all the wealth and all the natural beauty, and the way these girls really did like to have fun, and their affection for each other, and because they were all very nice people. There was one woman she did not warm up to, but she warmed up to all the rest and was completely on their side...

I think putting so much stock in their looks and their money, made Annie find them vulnerable. But their enormous capacity to have fun and their kindness and decency and affection for each other made them seem invulnerable. So it was a nice combo. With everything kinda of hanging out there...
