“The adventure of the Certified Letter”

Well it is last day of old year, ring in the new. Let this be a great year for all.

LOL mailman brought Annie certified letter to sign this afternoon.

“If you don’t want it I can send it back” he said.

“What if someone is suing me” she said.

“Don’t open it, I will send it back.”

“I don’t recognize the return address” she said, “send it back.”

“But maybe it has money for you.”

“From your mouth to God’s ears” she said. “OK I will open it.”

“Wait till I get in my truck and run away” he said, "you will be mad at me if it is bad news.”

“If it is money I will kiss you and give you ten percent” she said.

As she opened up the letter and read it, mailman went very fast to his truck, he was not taking chances.

“You don’t have to run away” she said, “it is from my uncle’s estate, maybe he left me a few dollars.” And she kissed the mailman and thanked him profusely. They each wished the other a great new year.

The letter was from the bank. But all it said is “you have 180 days to contest the will.” So she called the phone number. The lady's name was Nancy. Nancy’s machine said she was away for New Years, but you can leave a message. And Annie said she got the certified letter, and did her uncle leave her a few dollars? Then she called her brother and left the message on his machine.

Annie got so excited and so happy at idea her uncle left her 20 thousand dollars. She knew from her brother who used to work for him on money matters that he had 12 million. So she figured he gave all the millions to his daughter, his grandchildren, and his great grandchild, but left 50K to Marion, his sister, and 20K to Danny and her. She was overjoyed and happy. She has had so much stress about money now, she would love a windfall to solve the whole money problem.

But then she went to her computer and found email from her brother explaining that Gus did not leave any money to their side of the family. And the reason the bank sent the letter is because they send it to all relatives who were not given money, in case they want to contest it. Of course Danny and Annie and Marion would never contest Gus's will. He is free to leave his money to exactly who he wants to, that is free will. And it had never crossed Annie’s mind her uncle left her any money until the certified letter arrived today. She couldn’t understand why the bank would be sending her certified letter unless she was named in the will.

But Danny explained it on email. He said the government gets 4 million of the 12 million and the rest is divided equally between Pam, her children, and the one grandchild. Altho Annie knows the 4 million the gov gets goes for corruption, to line the pockets of the corrupt ones, she refuses to let it bother her. She knows that giving her, Danny, and their mom some thousands would have brought great joy, Danny too is having money crunch. But she simply thought “maybe it is an omen money will come some other way, why would a certified letter arrive to get her hopes up like this, unless money was on its way some other way.” Altho she is glad Bill was at swim club and movie theater when it arrived and she was so filled with hope, because he would have been just as overjoyed as she was to think money was on the way, and she doesn’t want him to find out like she did, that the bank was not informing her money was on the way, merely informing her she has 6 months to fight her uncle’s will, which of course she would never consider doing in ten trillion years.

"Well at least I got to kiss the mailman" she thought. And it is true Annie and her mailman have a beautiful relationship. Ever since the government forbade UPS from delivering cigarettes, the federal mail service is delivering them instead. So the mailman brings her her cigarettes and she is overjoyed and always thanks the mailman profusely.

This is the origin of their close and beautiful relationship. “My cigarettes! you brought them! thank you! you did great!” she always says. And he is pleased as punch at making her so happy.

And she got to write a very loving email back to her brother. So even tho the certified letter did not bring money into her household, it brought a wave of love. And look at this way Annie, at least you weren’t being sued LOL.

Love and kisses, your Higher Self
